****Adds to TBR immediately!!!!!!!**** love a good book discovery— and have been absolutely loving “old” books instead of new releases, especially ones that feel prescient of their time. Can’t wait for this! also enjoy parable of the sower— loved that series!

Thanks, EJ! I'm looking forward to reading Parable of the Sower, at long last. I hope you find a copy of The Gadfly. It's definitely worth trying to get the Mandylion edition. It's unique and exciting. And so is the book itself! I hope you enjoy it!

Wow the back of this cover is SO cool!!!? Thanks for sharing! I wanted to try grab this book when you initially shared it a few months ago but unfortunately I can’t seem to get it in the UK? Devastating. Hopefully one day! Enjoyed this review & can’t wait to hear what you think of Parable of the Sower!

Thanks, Martha! Yes, there was a very limited supply so I was lucky to get one. Hopefully there will be more soon. Will keep my eye out for it and let you know. I'm excited to dive into Parable next! The last book of the year.

OMG my man you’ve done it again! I am on my way to Lost City Books in DC—I know they probably won’t have this but I’ll see if they want to help me track it down. Sounds incredible. I have read a provocative non-fiction book about that period in Italian history—what a wild time. I’m going to pick up Sweet Days of Discipline and order The Bloater. You have opened up a whole new territory for me to mine in pursuit of literary pleasures. Amen to that!

This makes me so happy, Brian! Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy all those books, and are successful in your journey to Lost City Books. I didn't mention it in my review because I couldn't find space for it, but I once did a middle school or high school project about the unification of Italy and all the secret societies that I really enjoyed researching and writing. So I was appreciative of The Gadfly for resurfacing that memory, too.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Donna and so glad you loved this book. Unlike everyone else in this thread, I am not tracking this down. It sounds too intense for me. I need easier reads right now.
