Thanks for your insightful review. I had read other reviews of this book which made me not want to read it. But your review and the excerpt have me interested. Last year, I read Say Nothing by Patrick Raddon Keefe which is nonfiction about the troubles (and one of my favorites from 2020). I heard Milkman is sort of a companion, if you wanted to pair a novel with a nonfiction book. I am putting Milkman back on my TBR.
I coincidentally read Say Nothing (also one of my favorites!) and Milkman back-to-back and they work so well together. I'm not sure I would have really gotten Milkman without Say Nothing.
I've been thinking a lot about Milkman this week. I live in D.C. and have been watching as the Green Zone grows ever larger, and checkpoints become the norm.
I really enjoyed Milkman. Interestingly, me and one other person in my book club read it on a long flight. We had a way different experience than members who tried to pick it up and put it down.
Thanks, Elizabeth! That's really interesting that you and your book club member had different reactions to Milkman. I could see people being turned off by the style and the density of text. But I think we agree that it's worth it. Be safe this week!
Hello! Happy to help. I have had this problem in the past too. What I do is I save the GIF to my desktop then drag it into Substack like a regular image. Then I add the caption etc.

Thanks, Kate! Glad you enjoyed the review and that it got you interested in Milkman again. I would love to hear your thoughts on it!

The review made me to add the book in the want to read list. I dutifully added it in Good Reads
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
How do you transfer your GIFs to Substack? I've been trying but it never uploads for me :/
