Thanks for voting, Alicia! I am really interested to see which way the voting goes. It would be cool to read Ferrante at the same time and compare notes!
Thanks, Resh! I'm interested to see if it wins the poll. I really have no idea which way it's going to go. Are people going to pick Ferrante because she's a big name? Or one of the more out there books? We'll see! I hope to read them all eventually!
This is a fun idea!!! I should do the same. I recently reorganized my bookshelf and the number of books I own that have been sitting on my shelf unread for yeaaaars is 🫨🫨🫨 if you end up going with the lying life, maybe I’ll join you (it’s on my shelf). I voted for the memory one though—sounds right up my alley!
Thanks, Eve! Lying Life is going to have to make up a lot of ground if it's going to win the poll. But I will read it eventually. It would be cool to do a read along one of these days, if not for that book than for another.
Great list! Love that it's a mix of everything from classics to Two Dollar Radio titles to Y2K era favorites like The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing
Thanks, Kristen! I love Two Dollar Radio! They're one of my favorite imprints. I try to keep a good mix going with my list. Maybe next time I do a poll, I'll show the next two pages?
Seduced by the fate-has-intervened idea, voted for the vaca-related read.
On the TBR front, you’ve motivated me to make a written list of the TBRs I already own. I saw Anna Karenina is on your list. Henry Eliot, over at Read The Classics, is doing a year-long read-along of that. Finding it such a good read it’s difficult not to read ahead.
Thanks, Brian! I know of several folks who are reading Anna Karenina this year. I am going to try to join them. Originally I had penciled it in for February, but my schedule got too busy to tackle a book of that size. Maybe over the summer? I have greatly enjoyed writing out all the books on my piles. It's very relaxing and it has helped me to think about what I want to read and when, as well as reminding me about all the books I have.
Loving them this time around. I read My Brilliant Friend 10 years ago and really thought it was only meh. I liked it so much better this time around. I reread my Goodreads review and the parts I fixated on back then were barely noticed this time around
That's so interesting, Kate! When we read a book is so important, our headspace can open or close us to things. I'm so glad the story is resonating with you now.
Thanks, friend! I really loved Ferrante back in the day, but have never been in a rush to get back to her work. But I definitely want to move it off the pile soon. I'm tired of having it stare at me unread!
The question: Did you organize either list in any way? Finding an organizational structure that works is always what stymies me when I try to write a list of books. Or is it chaos because it's ongoing?
The recommendation: The World According to Garp is a novel that surprised me, because it feels like nothing happens and then BAM, it gripped me. It's not as good as A Prayer for Owen Meany, but it's the first of his that I've read, and I adored it.
Thanks, Justin! The list definitely is ordered by chaos. Going forward it’s being added to in order of book purchase. And thanks for the rec. I am planning to include Garp in a future poll of books held together by tape.
I voted for The Lying Life of Adults as I need to a friend to read Ferrante with! I want to finally read My Brilliant Friend this year.
Thanks for voting, Alicia! I am really interested to see which way the voting goes. It would be cool to read Ferrante at the same time and compare notes!
I’ll watch out if you do end up reading Ferrante! That might be a fun post for us to do together too.
Read all. But I love love love the lying life of adults. Sure, some people had a problem with the book but all i can say is we are all too human.

I have read none of them. I picked the Ferrante because I am deep into Book 2 of the Neapolitan Quartet!
Thanks, Kate! How are you enjoying the Neapolitan books so far?
Loving them this time around. I read My Brilliant Friend 10 years ago and really thought it was only meh. I liked it so much better this time around. I reread my Goodreads review and the parts I fixated on back then were barely noticed this time around

I had to choose Ferrante because that very same book has been in my bedside pile for at least a year.
Thanks, friend! I really loved Ferrante back in the day, but have never been in a rush to get back to her work. But I definitely want to move it off the pile soon. I'm tired of having it stare at me unread!
This post came up in my Google notifications, and I admit, I voted for my own. BUT also Ferrante is amazing no matter what she writes :)
Thanks, Monica! Welcome! Your book is doing really well in the poll! I look forward to reading it, and returning to Ferrante, too.
One question and one recommendation.

What a fun category!
