This review is actually an inspiring tale of personal re-invention. I’ve been gradually reading Samin Nosrat’s “Salt Fat Acid Heat” cookbook like a novel I dip in and out of. It’s well written and educational and I recommend it.
Thanks! I watched an episode of her show on Netflix and have been meaning to return to it. I take your point that a cookbook is like a novel you keep returning to. In that sense, are you ever really 'finished' with such a book?
I have wanted to try Indian cooking, but am intimidated by it. Marcella Cucina helped me overcome the intimidation with Italian cooking. Your review made me want to try this book. Thanks.
Thanks, Deb! Trust me, if I can make something tasty following these recipes than anyone can. The book offers a range of things from simple to complex. I started with simpler things to build my confidence and now I feel ready to tackle bigger dishes. I hope you give it a try. And if you do, please let me know how it goes!
Loved this review. I am not interested in cooking (so lucky my husband does all that), but I love to bake and the past 18 months has given me time to up my skills. I find reading a recipe calming, especially after a bad shift at work. I have learned new techniques and I feel
so much more confident. P.S. My husband and I always try new recipes on guests. For the past 20 years, if you are eating with us, we have never made it before. Happy Holidays!
Thanks, Kate! I love this, and the idea of always trying something new with friends. Perfect spirit for this time of year. Happy holidays to you and yours, too!
What a fun newsletter! I’m so glad you got to try making new things and had some success at that :)
Thank you! I am an unstoppable cooking force lol! Thanks to you!

Damn, what a tasty issue! 🤩
Thanks, Stygi!!
Maybe this is a silly question but did you make chicken tikka masala or is that a generic dish?
I did not! But the chicken dish I did make was fantastic!
