Thanks, Courtney! Stuff like this is why I buy most of my books from secondhand stores. So many little gems like this just floating out there.

Excellent review of a favorite book. I am in Florida on a brief getaway and your review reminds me I read Free Food pre-pandemic on our 25th Anniversary trip. I left my copy in a fancy hotel in Santa Fe, NM for someone else to enjoy. Such a great story, and I almost always feel long books could be a little shorter, and I really connected with Casey’s story although we have almost nothing in common. I will read anything MinJin Lee writes. Cannot wait for her next book (no pressure!).

Thanks, Kate! I will read anything she writes, too, and am looking forward to her next book as well. I wonder where your Santa Fe copy is now. I hope someone read it and enjoyed it, and now tells their friends how they serendipitously came upon it like I came upon this copy. I love when the universe connects us to good books!

Love this and now must read. Like Kate, I’m looking forward to Min Jin’s new book, but perhaps this can tide me over.

Recently read this and came to this now old send. I really liked it, and the hardcover photo is great.
