I also read this recently and was not a fan! Seemed too whiney to me, which I normally don’t mind, but I guess the lack of communication with their relationship bothered me this time around. There was some beautiful writing though.
Thanks, Aleesha! You make a really good point, these are two characters who are not communicating. So many problems could be fixed if people just said what was bothering them in a relationship instead of stewing and resenting. It’s totally frustrating. I’m sorry the book didn’t work for you, but glad we agree that the writing was good!
I understand that this post is about Boulder, and it sounds fantastic, but I'm equally intrigued by Yard Bar. A friend just visited and said that his friend--a phenomenal glass artist--has recently moved to Brooklyn and is using the Yard Bar backyard as his office. I have to go check this space out!
Love your review but just a correction it is from Spain but it wasn't translated from Spanish as your email states. Just like Welsh in the UK, Spain has other languages. This book was written in Catalan.
Thanks, Mercè! I appreciate you pointing this out. The price sticker on the back of the book said 'European Spanish' and I guess I didn't look any further into it thinking that was referring to the original language. It's odd that the book itself doesn't mention the original Catalan, at least not where I could find it just now, but the publisher's website does mention it. I'll update the newsletter with the correct info now. Thanks again!
Excellent review! And now I am going to look for a copy! Have a great week!!
Thanks, Kate! It took me a while to find a copy. Hope you have better luck, and that you enjoy it too!

Thanks, Julie! Definitely check out Yard Bar. It’s the perfect spot for when the weather’s nice. They have snacks too.
Enjoyed the review. Found the clip on Ocean’s 11 fascinating. Will be curious what you think of Middlemarch. I was pretty amazed by it.
Thanks Brian! I’m just getting started on Middlemarch and so far so good. Look for the review in September!

If you come up here to visit, I’ve found some great bookstores to take you to!
Yay! On my way!
