Guys, I didn’t finish reading ‘Black Leopard, Red Wolf’ by Marlon James in time for today’s edition. Apologies. I overestimated my ability to get through a 600-plus page book while juggling work, travel (both Donna’s and mine) and hanging with friends in from out of town, one of whom crashed on our couch. Ugh, poor planning by me:

But this is also a blessing in disguise because it provides an opportunity to showcase the great work of other book-related newsletter writers. I’ve made a roundup of some recent posts by my colleagues that include interviews with authors, book recommendations across several genres and even a recipe for feta-stuffed rolls paired with praise for indie presses. I hope you find something that interests you!

Enjoy!

Reading Under the Radar
Read about a woman who lives in total darkness
What to Read This Week Girl in the Dark: A Memoir of a Life without Light by Anna Lyndsey A little backstory, first: I first read this book right when I’d moved from Kentucky to New York City, alone, knowing no one. I was making it, but I felt lonelier than ever, and naturally turned to books. While I certainly did not experience any of the same hardships…

Three brilliant new books for April
You have no idea how much I have to refrain from writing ‘how is it [insert month here] already?’ at the start of every single one of these newsletters, but seriously - April? This month is an incredibly busy one for publishers and I had a huge pile of April books to choose from for today’s newsletter. The following three novels were easily my favourite…

Read These Weird Science Books
Hi friends, The first time I read a Mary Roach book, I was instantly obsessed. Who knew someone was out there writing weird science books that answer all the questions I didn’t even know to ask? I was writing a story for my college yearbook about the biology department and the not-so-little secret that there were two human cadavers on campus. I met with …

I don't know if I should curse you or thank you for telling me about "Books and Bakes" (writes as she hurries out the door to buy feta and garlic).
